Our commissioner staff is here to serve you anytime if you have questions, concerns or problems. The commissioners are your "go-to" person for your week-long experience at Rainbow Scout Reservation.


The commissioner staff’s primary goal is to address your unit’s needs and concerns as soon as you need or have either. Commissioners are also a great resource to help Scoutmasters earn the Scoutmaster Merit Badge (see Program Guide for details).


Commissioners are responsible for:


  • Verifying troops have everything needed once they arrive at camp.

  • Helping to promote the patrol method.

  • Providing help in solving problems.

  • Interpreting RSR camp policies and regulations.

  • Promoting inter-troop activities.

  • Promoting Scoutmaster training opportunities.

  • Ensuring that each unit has a well-rounded program.

Mail Service

Families are encouraged to send a letter or package to their son while at RSR. Please allow at least two days delivery time. Items arriving after Scout’s departure will be returned to sender. Address the items in the following manner:

RSR's Camp Trading post is stocked with a large array of goods for your scouting needs and pleasure. We also carry snacks, drinks, and Ice Cream.


Our Trading post hours are yet to be set for the 2015 summer but as soon as we know they will be posted here.


Also We will Announce the annual camp Hat Color and style on our page first so be on the look out!


Our trading post has been undergoing extensive rennovations be sure to stop by see how the shopping experience has been improved!

RSR prides itself on serving nutritious and delicious meals. A nutritionist reviews the meals planned for to assure that they meet the needs of growing boys in an active environments. The meals are nutritionally balanced and we may offer some alternatives.


If you have any campers with special dietary needs (food allergies, religious preferences, vegetarianism, etc.) we will be glad to try and meet your needs in camp but ask that you contact us at least one week before arrival to discuss your needs. In rare cases, we may not able be to reasonably accommodate all requests, but we will do our best. Please contact the camp Culinary Specialist directly (Patty Provance at 815-955-3900, who will personally call and discuss the menu with each person) or the camp office (Dee at 815-942-4450) with any questions pertaining to the menu.


A copy of the menu will be available at the beginning of each week and is to be posted on the campsite bulletin board.
